Justice Department to Look at Trayvon Martin's Murder

This is another example of why things like this can't always been taken care of at the state level. Florida has yet to even order an arrest of Trayvon Edward's killer, George Zimmerman in Florida.

Florida seems to have certain biases that explain it's failure to arrest Zimmerman despite his killing the 17 year old young man, Trayvon Edward in February. Weeks have gone by. With rising criticism and protest, the Justice Department is now looking at the case.

It seems that Trayvon was visiting a friend at a gated community in Florida. I too work at a gated community but we're a little different up here in NY than down in Florida. Again they have certain biases. One is the bias against young men with black skin. This bias is what caused Mr. Zimmerman to kill an unarmed young man who had a perfect right to be where he was Another is against, believe it or not, people who are not holding weapons. A Florida right to defend law certainly seems to bias against those who don't have weapons against those who do.

From what a Brady advocate was saying last night on MSNBC, most cases on which an unarmed person is shot by someone, the person with the gun gets off. I would urge all readers to sign this petition to bring justice to Trayvon Edwards.

Hopefully with the Feds on the case the outcome will change. There is speculation that the Justice Department may prosecute this as a hate crime. Let's hope so.

Zimmerman was a Community Watch person. However there is now indication that he was not a legitimate member. He has called the police over 50 times since last year, suggesting someone who's pretty obsessed. He had called the police in this case before killing Martin.

He also broke handbook for those in Community Watch programs across the country which state you are not a police officer, you may not carry a gun and you must not follow anyone around. On the phone-he had complained that "these people always get away with it"= the dispatcher had told Zimmerman that he would ask him not to follow Martin around.
