Open Season In Wisconsin on GOP Politicians and Scott Walker

You think of those old Bugs Bunny shows when Bugs and Daffy would be trying to argue that is was "Rabbit season!", "Duck Season", in Wisconsin now it's not even Elmer season, it's open seasons on the GOP.

Last year the people of the badger state put up 5 Republican state senators and two were recalled. The Republicans actually tried to play about how it was "mission accomplished the Democrats have failed!" as if that result didn't bode pretty badly-along with the concurrent defeat in Ohio of SB 15 the broad anti-union, anti collective bargaining bill.

This year, 5 more Republican state senators in Wisconsin are up for recall, and of course Scott Walker who was saying his wife sometimes wish he was back in the private sector where he could make the big bucks-as Governor of Wisconsin he only makes $179,000 per year.

With Pam Galloway stepping down this weekend the GOP has now already lost its majority. The elections haven't even started yet. Ms. Galloway says she left for family reasons. While I can't read her mind, and maybe there are health problems in her family, it may be that she realizes that it's not going to be much fun being a Republican senator in Wisconsin in the near future.

"Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, R-Juneau, said he planned to speak to state Reps. Jerry Petrowski of Stettin and Mary Williams of Medford about running."

"I think everybody knows I've always had an interest in that Senate seat," Petrowski said in a phone interview Friday from Madison. "I called my wife, and we did talk about it. The job is a huge commitment of time, and being away from home and the campaign itself would be a huge commitment. But I've been married 38 years, and it's important that we get a chance to talk this over before making a decision."

      Scott Walker votes for Petrowski:

"In the end, I think a great candidate would be Jerry Petrowski to run and serve in the Senate," Walker said. "He's done a tremendous job representing the central part of the state and, if he did run, I think it would be a competitive race. I think his district has seen his leadership and know him well, and I think he would continue to serve them well."

Guess Scott Walker's wife is not the only one with nostalgia for the private sector for the GOP in Wisconsin these days.
