Serious Paul Ryan Not Enough to Save Unhinged Romney

Supposedly the selection of Ryan to the ticket was supposed to herald an era of the New Seriousness and also Ryan's patented "boldness."

Ryan however, has mostly spent the first few days running from his own budget. Romney for his part has totally gone off the deep end. He has now taking to foaming at the mouth whining that the President is running a 'dirty" campaign and that it is based on "hate."

"Mitt Romney, capping off a five-state bus tour in Ohio Tuesday night, delivered the most aggressive and fiery speech of his bid for the presidency -- accusing President Obama of running a "campaign of division and anger and hate" while taking on what he called an "outrageous charge" by Vice President Biden."

"The Republican presidential candidate lit into his White House rival at a rally in Chillicothe, Ohio. Though some of the candidate's speeches are written by staff, aides told Fox News that Romney personally wrote this one over the course of two days. It effectively set the tone for the rest of the week, as Romney plans to head to closed-camera fundraisers through Saturday while handing off the campaign bullhorn to his new running mate, Paul Ryan. "

"In the address, Romney discarded all euphemisms and claimed recent flare-ups on the trail were signs of a president's campaign gone bitter. He pointed to Biden's claim Tuesday in Virginia that Romney and the Republicans intend to roll back Wall Street regulations and "put y'all back in chains." Romney's campaign called it a "new low," while Romney himself accused the president of being "intellectually exhausted" and out of ideas."

"His campaign and his surrogates have made wild and reckless accusations that disgrace the office of the presidency," Romney told a crowd of thousands at the final stop on his five-state bus tour. "Another outrageous charge came a few hours ago in Virginia. And the White House sinks a little bit lower. This is what an angry and desperate presidency looks like."

He continued: "So, Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago."

What's clear is that the Governor himself is becoming desperate. Certainly his own claims in the speech were very "wild" and meaningless. Mr. Romney himself has lived and died by a dirty campaign and campaign lies. It was the carpet bombing negative ads of his Super Pac that helped him squeak out a victory over Newt Gingrich and Santorum.

Against the President, Mr. Romney has simply made stuff up. While he keeps on whining about the Obama team's supposed lies and wild accusations there is not an example of anything in these ads that weren't true.

Romney on the other hand has made ads out of taking the President out of context. He quoted the President in 2008 speaking of the McCain campaign and tried to make it sound as if Obama himself saying "If this campaign is on the issues we will lose."

Then of course, there was the manufactured buzz about "You didn't build that."

What we don't hear much about is the Serious Paul Ryan's all so serious budget. Yet Romney claims to want a "change in tone" and discuss "serious" issues.

Indeed, the newest thing was Romney taking what Vice President Biden said out of context. Yet if Biden pointed out that Romney and Ryan want to put us back in our chains-indeed, with the new GOP voter id laws, it even does apply like they claimed Biden meant, along racial lines-Romney has neither been unchained or unshackled by Ryan but unhinged.

While he is trying to claim that the President only cares about clinging to power, it's Romney himself who has no agenda other than his own personal rise to power. He's been a professional Presidential candidate for 6 years and we still don't know where he stands on the issues.

"Well, I think if you look at the ads that have been described, and the divisiveness based upon income, age, ethnicity, and so forth, it's designed to bring a sense of enmity and jealousy and anger."

Actually it is Mitt Romney who is dividing people on these grounds with his regressive tax policies and the Romney budget. In addition, he's also dividing Americans on gender-he has promised to close down Planned Parenthood and Ryan wants women who receive abortions thrown in jail. How's that for divisiveness?
