Mitt's Chronic Romnesia

Score one for the President, This is a great diagnosis for Mitt's problem. He has set a bewildering array of records for just plain cognitive dissonance. Perhaps the best way to sum him up is schizophrenic because he's constantly reinventing himself and his position is always D: all of the above. The late Ted Kennedy nailed him as multiple choice Mitt.

President Obama said at a campaign event in Virginia on Friday that Mitt Romney has been "backtracking" and "sidestepping" so much, the condition needs a name. Obama dubbed it "Romnesia."

I like it and it really does solve a problem. When someone obfuscates and prevaricates to the extent that governor Romney does-he missed his calling in ideological gymnastics-it seems that no word is sufficient to really capture his obfuscating essence.

The whole task of this election for him has to be to figure out a way to get Americans to elect him on a platform they mostly hate. This has been a problem and Romney mostly had no answer to it until the Denver debate. Then he figured out the magic of simply lying about your platform and claim it's something else much more moderate and close to the Center.

I like what Obama said yesterday about his own Denver performance-the presentation was wrong. That's correct. On substance he mostly was right but he failed to appreciate the optics. Yet the Governor really outdid himself in Denver. I'm sure the President wasn't quite ready for the levels of Romensia that we would see and it took a little while to figure it out.

Romensia is what enables Mitt to run on ending ObamaCare when he passed it in Massachusetts and still somehow touting what he did in Massachusetts. It's what enables him to claim that the President is the one who hasn't given us any details.

Well-lied lion. However, I think now Obama is on to something. I think Romnesia is a keeper much like a binder full of women, malarkey, or the 47%. I think we should adopt this coinage going forward. Becuase every time Romney goes off the deep end in distortion and spin the best way to give a quick summation in shorthand is to conclude that the Governor is having a particularly tough day of Romnesia.
