Glen Doherty's Mother Tells Mitt to Stop Using Her Son's Death

     Romney was again trying to profit from the tragic killings in Benghazi at the U.S. embassy by invoking Glen Doherty:

     "Mitt Romney will stop telling a story on the campaign trail of meeting Glen Doherty, the Winchester native and retired Navy SEAL who was killed last month in Libya, after Doherty’s mother accused the Republican presidential nominee of attempting to use her son’s death for political gain."

    “Governor Romney was inspired by the memory of meeting Glen Doherty and shared his story and that memory,” ­Ryan Williams, a campaign spokesman, said Wednesday. “However, we will ­respect the wishes of Mrs. ­Doherty.”

    "Earlier, Doherty’s mother, Barbara Doherty of Woburn, questioned the former Massachusetts governor’s motives for talking about her son."

    “I don’t trust Romney,” she told WHDH-TV. “He shouldn’t make my son’s death part of his political agenda. It’s wrong to use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama.”

     Can't put it better than Mrs. Doherty did. Romney's latest attempt to expolit Libya ended up no better than the first-where he claimed the President sympathized with those who killed Ambassador Stevens.

      "Rachel Maddow Wednesday night took issue with Romney's ham-fisted effort to compare Doherty's sacrifice with his own run for office. "Part of the problem is, here, Mr. Romney equating his running for office with the bravery Mr. Doherty had displayed trying to save lives in the armed attack in Benghazi," she said.

       Another part of the problem is that while Romney is trying to talk up his meeting Doherty and about the great impact he made on him, Glen's friend says that Romney at the time kept reintroducing himself to him as he didn't even remember meeting him just a few minutes before.

       This reminds us of when Romney made a big show and dance about going down to Louisiana with Bobby Jindal and when a woman who lost her house asked him what she should do, he told her to go home and call 211.

       These "gaffes" actually reveal something deep and meaningful about Romney. That he really doesn't care though lately he's been trying to claim the opposite. After all, when he goes to meet people in things like this, he's not there to help them, they're there to help him with a photo-op.
