Rush Limbaugh has been having some issues lately-the big radio stations aren't as anxious to have him anymore as his ratings are slipping and he's really hurt his own brand by his vile attacks on Sandra Fluke.
"The bad news just keeps coming for conservative talker Rush Limbaugh."
"The bad news just keeps coming for conservative talker Rush Limbaugh."
"Which bulletin was worse, though? The news in April that he was being dropped by WIBC in Indianapolis, a booming talk powerhouse that played home to Limbaugh's radio show for more than two decades, or the newsthis week that the talker's new address on the Indianapolis dial is going to be WNDE, a ratings doormat AM sports station that has so few listeners it trails the commercial-free classical music outlet in town?"
"The humbling, red-state tumble is just the latest setback for the conservative talker who has seen his once-golden career suffer a steady series of losses recently."
"Divorced from successful, longtime affiliates in places like New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and Indianapolis, Limbaugh's professional trajectory is heading downward. That's confirmed by the second and third-tier stations he now calls home in those important media markets, and the fact that when his show became available, general managers up and down the dial passed on it. Apparently turned off by the show's hefty price tag, sagging ratings, and disappearing advertisers, Limbaugh continues to be a very hard sell."
"It's a precipitous fall from the glory days when the host posted huge ratings numbers, had affiliates clamoring to join his network, and dictated Republican politics. All of that seems increasingly distant now. With his comically inflated, $50 million-a-year syndication deal set to expire next year, Limbaugh's future seemsuncertain. "Who would even want someone whose audience is aging and is considered toxic to many advertisers," asked RadioInsight last month."
"For Limbaugh, the troubles were marked by key events from 2012 and 2013. The first came in the form of Limbaugh's Sandra Fluke implosion, where he castigated and insulted for days the graduate student who testified before Congress about health care and access to contraception, calling her a "slut" and suggesting she post videos of herself having sex on the Internet. The astonishing monologues sparked an unprecedented advertiser exodus."

It's gotten so bad even he himself is acknowledging there may be a generational disconnect.
"Another looming problem? Conservative talk radio is a "format fewer advertisers are interested in buying because of its aging audience," noted radio consultant and self-identified Republican Darryl Parks. Limbaugh himself recently conceded a generational disconnect: "Now that I've outgrown the 25-54 demographic, I'm no longer confident that the way I see the world is the way everybody else does."
How he sees the world is suggested in this Facebook entry by Rush in which he compared Hillary Clinton to Miss Piggy. All his very grey fans came in with the same 'hillarious' comment-that that's an insult to Miss Piggy.

This is why it's just hard to feel sorry for Rush. You almost would feel sorry for him-if he weren''t just a big jerk. His Right wing schoolyard bully act doesn't play so much with the younger folks and that's hardly a bad thing.
Speaking of schoolyard bullies-Sumner is kind of the Rush Limbaugh of monetary economics; Al Franken put it best once in describing the Rush Limbaugh show as where you get penalized for knowing things-just can't stop crying about Dennis Hastert.
"Update: Here’s how Yahoo describes the charges against Dennis Hastert:
Hastert pleads not guilty in hush money caseThe former House Speaker is accused of agreeing to paying $3.5M to hide past misconduct claims
"Interesting that the American press is so ashamed of our country that they refuse come right out and say that it can be illegal to withdraw cash from your own bank account, and instead feel a need to make up lies about Hastert being charged with paying hush money."

This is getting beyond embarrassing; Sumner is a jerk but he's got some nice friends-David Glasner, Nick Rowe; can't they or even Ken Duda talk him off the ledge? I mean now he's Dennis Hastert's chief apologist?
. In typical Sumner fashion he makes very heavy weather over small beer-Hastert withdrew the money from his own account to pay hush money to a former male student he had sex with when the young man was underage in his wrestling class.
The only lies being told here are Scott's.
Regarding Hastert I think the answer is that Karma's a bitch; R Joseph, a friend of mine on Twitter argued that Karma's not a bitch but simply justice. I don't see the reason to debate that one-either way of putting it works.
