If You're Looking for Hastert, You Might Want to Check Sumner's House

Seems the former Speaker has been hiding out.

"Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) popped up Monday in rural Wisconsin after being neither seen nor heard from for nearly two weeks following his indictment on charges of bank fraud and lying to the FBI."

"Hastert's whereabouts were a complete mystery until an ABC News crew early Monday caught sight of the former speaker for the first time since the indictment was returned. The network's cameras filmed the former speaker and his wife driving a black SUV out of a secluded vacation property en route to their Plano, Illinois home, which was four hours away. Hastert's SUV did not slow down when it passed reporters at the gate to his home, according to the report.
Madison, Wisconsin TV station WKOW had speculated as early as May 30 that Hastert could be hiding out in the Badger State. The news station noted that the former speaker owned property in Eastman, a small village located in Crawford County."

I really am becoming intrigued by Sumner's full-throated apologetics for Hastert. He's trying to make Hastert a libertarian cause celeb.

Even this underscores Hastert's elite status. I mean how many others have been prosecuted under the bank fraud laws and has Sumner ever giving the slightest protest? Now because this is a powerful GOPer Sumner is acting like this is a case for the ACLU.

I guess this is why Sumner has so little compassion for the poor or the struggling-it's all for some perverse fat cat like Hastert who lead the witch hunt against Clinton in the 90s. Where was Sumner's outraged libertarian sensibilities then?

I'm wondering does he know Hastert or something? He sure is taking this personally.

This is what poetic justice looks like:

"Today is the first day of the rest of Denny Hastert’s life."
"From here on out it will be like this: Hordes of reporters posted up near courtrooms, waiting for a glimpse of that favorite media stock character—a powerful man fallen from grace."
"That was the case today at the Everett M. Dirksen Federal Courthouse, where the former Speaker of the House was arraigned on charges that he purposely avoided federal reporting requirements when he pulled gobs of cash out his bank account to allegedly pay off someone he had a sexual relationship during his time as a high school wrestling coach. His time in court today was short, a legal formality turned media circus, and Hastert’s appearances came in humbling snippets as cameras clicked and questions were hurled."
"Hastert has now come out of hiding, forced into the public eye by the long arm of the law which has the unique ability to reach up and grab even those on high. Tuesday marked the first time Hastert was required to come back down to earth."
"He probably thought he had gotten away with it when, in 2007, he gave a farewell speech that like a lot of other politicians’ words has come back to haunt him."
“It’s popular these days to ask political figures what mistakes they’ve made, where they have failed,” he said back then. “As a former history teacher, I know such analysis is best tempered by time and reflection. And that it is best left to others.”
"The others are here. And the time is now."
