Daily KOS on Fast Track: Kind of Ironic When You Put it That Way

So KOS is not happy that fast track passed so they are sending me and all other Dems on their mailing list this warning that there are these Democrats who sold out by voting on FT today.

"Mike , awful news: Fast Track Trade Authority (TPA) has now passed both houses of Congress—with 28 Democrats in the House and 13 Democratic U.S. senators joining the GOP leadership and corporate lobbyists by voting “yes.”

"Your "Democratic" Senator and / or Representative was one of the 41 enablers who allowed Fast Track to go through."

"Sign and send them a message denouncing them for this horrible vote."

I'm from NY you see. There are some ironies however:

    1. KOS dumped me after 1 day. Part of it was my handle-AbortiononDemand. They didn't like this. They thought I was attacking abortion rights which is absurd-I'm as principled a believer in a woman's right to choose that you'll find.

Yep, that's one of my first posts ever way back in 2011. I didn't do much better at either Firedoglake or DemocraticUnderground.

Basically I had to start my own blog as I wasn't welcome anywhere else. Say what you want about Sumner: at least he never banned me. However, I had meant to use AbortiononDemand as my handle but forgot so I came up with Diary of a Republican Hater. What can I tell you: some people like blogs with nice inoffensive titles with lots of roses and puppies scampering around.

But , if that's what you're looking for then like Bob Dylan once said:

'It ain't me babe, no no no, it ain't me babe, it ain't me you're looking for, babe.

    2. I wanted Obama to get his FT authority anyway. Nice research KOS. I'm good enough to take my money from but not to let me blog on your site huh?

   3. They are taking Democrats in the Senate for voting for FT without worker protections:

The final TPA bill did not include assistance to workers displaced by trade agreements, even though many of these Democrats had conditioned their support for Fast Track on such aid.

Yes, but KOS is conveniently forgetting that the Dems in the House had a chance to vote for these protections and deliberately voted them down. How can you kill worker assistance when you voted against worker assistance?

We've debated this a lot-my point is just that Obama should have his FT like every other head of state in the world including GOP Presidents.

As for the deal itself, I don't think it is going to either save the US economy or condemn it for eternity. This bill now is not for the trade deal. There will time later to debate that. It's not a big job killer-or job creator-but there might be a source of concern in terms of too much patent protection or attempts to erode regulations. \

If so then the Dems can vote that down. If you want to know what may save the economy see these excellent proposals from some 'liberal billionaires.

UPDATE: Greg Sargent gets it right:

"The question now is whether Democrats will go ahead and support Trade Adjustment Assistance for workers; they probably will, because they’d originally opposed it only to block Fast Track, which is now moving forward. It’s a bitter loss for the left. But this whole thing isn’t quite over yet: If we get an actual Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal, we’ll finally be able to evaluate its relative treatment of workers and corporations, and foes will have months to rally opposition to it."
