Jimmy Carter Just Brought Down House In Charlotte

I really enjoyed his speech. Don't get me wrong, I also really enjoyed the speech by all those wonderful, strong, capable Democratic House women. Everything I've seen so far suggests to me this is going to be a great Democratic convention.

But I have a soft spot for good old Jimmy. He's such a good and decent man. He cares so much for this country and he cares for his fellow human beings.

Unfortunately, my first real election was in 1980 when of course he got walloped by Reagan-someone who's never been one of my favorite guys.

But seeing President Carter here tonight was a beautiful thing. I'm so glad he got to live long enough to vote twice for our first Black President.

I have to laugh at Paul Ryan. He keeps trying to beat up on Jimmy Carter. Meanwhile they complain that we Democrats still talk about George W. Bush!

Yet, maybe Ryan, Romney, and their Right wing Tea Party friends like to take potshots at this fine and honorable Octogenarian, but I suspect it will backfire.

What does it tell you that while the Republicans didn't let W anywhere near Tampa last week and that they accuse the Dems of  playing dirty simply to speak his name while on the other hand we Democrats embrace Jimmy Carter.

Far from being in any sense of the word an embarrassment for us, he gets a prime time slot. What does that tell you about who the real laughing stock is?

People like Jimmy Carter. Most Americans admire him and hold him in high esteem and respect. W? It's not for nothing that the Republicans wrap themselves in Bill Clinton!

I mean before the news came that Bill was going to speak Wednesday night, the GOP had wanted  him to be their own keynote speaker!

Toni Morrison once called Bill the first Black President. Now the GOP wants us to believe he's the first Republican President.
