Romney's Tax Returns and Ryan Math

In August, after being selected as Romney's VP, Ryan vaguely told us that he had released "several" years of taxes during the vetting process.

Whatever "several" meant it was more than the two Ryan made public in solidarity with Romney's paltry amount of disclosure.

Technically speaking, "several" usually means three. However, turns out this wasn't the number Ryan released to Romney, not even close. Turns out that we have another example of Ryan Math-like when he claimed to run under 3 hours in a marathon.

The number he released may be ten-really not close to three so not "several" or anything like it.

"The fresh details about the tax requests, first reported Thursday by The Daily Beast, threaten to complicate Romney's message as he continues to reject calls from President Obama's campaign team to release more than just two years of his own tax returns."

"Democrats say Romney, who accumulated a substantial fortune during a nearly two-decade career in consulting and private equity, needs to show voters what tax rate he paid and provide more details on financial assets held in offshore bank accounts."

"Mitt Romney requested at least ten years of tax returns from several of his potential running mates during the vice presidential vetting process, three Republicans familiar with the requests confirmed to CNN."

"One GOP source said that while Romney officials asked for a decade's worth of tax documents, they were "were willing to settle for less" as they scrutinized the financial backgrounds of several Republicans before Romney ultimately decided to tap Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his ticket mate."

Romney's failure to even submit to even the most basic conventions of a Presidential campaign show he thinks he's above the very democratic process. He thinks the Presidency is his by something like the old Divine Right of Kings. He feels that he's entitled to be President.

Joe Scarborough gave us perhaps the most devastating criticism two days ago when he pointed out that Romney is neither a real conservative or a courageous moderate but simply an ambitious man. He believes in nothing except his right to be President.

The idea that he can even be considered for the job if he won't show the American people his full unabridged resume shows how much he disrespects them and our democratic process.

  1. Not to be picky, and it certainly shouldnt diminish your point, but I have always thought this; A couple is 2, a few is 3 or 4, several is 5-9 and A LOT is 10 or more. Some things even reach the "Buttloads" level of 25+. Im never sure if scads is less or more than buttloads. How many scads to a buttload?

A bunch can be substituted for A lot in certain situations. ; )
