Bill Cosby is Rudy Giuliani's Kind of Black Man

He thinks President Obama could stand to learn something from the Cos.

"Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) just can't resist talking about race. On Thursday the former New York mayor said that President Barack Obama doesn't praise the country's police enough and should say more things like disgraced comedian Bill Cosby used to."

"Speaking on AM970 Thursday morning, Giuliani said that the president isn't paying attention to "enormous amounts of crime" and that it's the obligation of the president to explain "that our police are the best in the world."

"I hate to mention it because of what happened afterwards, but [Obama should be saying] the kinds of stuff Bill Cosby used to say," Giuliani said on the radio station, according to The New York Daily News.

"Obama, actually, praises police often, including in a major speech he delivered in Selma, Alabama recently."

"Cosby had frequently argued that African Americans should avoid engaging in crime and focus on being better parents."

"Giuliani did offer a little praise for the president, though, saying, "I disagree with Barack Obama on almost everything, but I think he's a good family man and a good man."

"About a month earlier, Giuliani said that he didn't think Obama loved America."

Sometimes there are debates about which social groups have been the more oppressed. For some reason the other day Madonna was being attacked for talking about women facing discrimination.

Ok, she did say that gay rights had advanced more than women's rights.

Still, those who criticized her said some weird things too. They seemed to think that women have it much easier than blacks and gays and I don't know about that. In fact, they fell into the same trap that Madonna fell into: trying to figure out 'who's more socially oppressed.'

Discrimination against women vs. blacks for instance is hard to call because for each group discrimination manifests itself in different ways.

I mean who is more oppressed: a white woman, a black man, or a gay white man? I'd say there's no answer to the question as it's a silly question.

In any case, regarding Giuliani's comments we don't have to choose as they were both incredibly insensitive and wrong for racist and sexist reasons.

He sure is right though that the President is a fine family man as opposed to Cosby. I mean why did Cosby stop saying all these great things Rudy loved? Because his moral authority was destroyed after we discovered that Cosby is a serial rapist. I mean nobody's perfect but c'mon. No one's going to listen to sermons from a serial rapist.

This makes the ex Mayor's comment terribly insensitive on gender grounds as it acts like being a serial rapist is not the kind of thing you hold against a person.

But it's also racist in that it seems to think that the President needs Mr. 911 to select the correct Black role models for him.

Rudy-for your own good, just make yourself stop. Whatever goodwill you have had for years because of 9-11 you are squandering. I mean the heroic 9/11 Rudy is something of a myth anyway. The more he talks the more he does to dispel it.
