Maybe Rex Ryan Does Know How to Build a Bully but Does Chip Kelly Know What He's Doing?

This is a trade which most analysts are saying basically they're 'perplexed.' It's funny. I have a friend who can't stand Chip Kelly. He's sure the guy is the biggest idiot in the world and Exhibit 1 for him was getting rid of Desean Jackson last year.

I see his point but wonder if maybe there was a method in Kelly's madness-maybe somehow Jackson wasn't a good fit or maybe Darren Sproles was a reasonable replacement but my buddy's not convinced and even in saying that I'm never really convinced either.

Now there is a lot more gist to the mill that Kelly is an idiot with this trade of McCoy to Buffalo.. I can't figure out what he''s thinking here and none of the NFL pundits and analysts I'm hearing seem to get it either.

Remember the Eagles have now likely lost wide receiver Jeremy Maclin as well. To me Kelly who won the big fight with GM Howie Roseman-Kelly now is GM and coach-is now in the position of the 49ers management who fired Jim Harbaugh: after firing a coach that had such success in his first 4 years there-he took a losing team and had 48 regular season wins and made it to the NFC championship game 3 straight years-this new coach of theirs better win.

Same with Kelly. After getting rid of Desean last year and Maclin and McCoy this year he'd better win. Ok, maybe this move might help Philly's defense which was their weak link last year. That's assuming that LB Kiko Alonso is healthy this year. But isn't the offense that was Philly's strength, now have some holes in it?

From what I hear, Kelly seems to be so impressed with his own genius on offense that he thinks that anyone he puts on the field will do well if they follow his system. It kind of sounds like Phil Jackson which is not necessarily a good thing when you look at how the Knicks have done this year in Year 1 of the Triangle Offense.

I'm not saying the TO isn't a good scheme but it sure helped that he had Joran and Pippen in Chicago and Shaq and Kobe with the Lakers.

As for Rex, right now it looks to me that he's pulled off a real coup. Even without Kiko-who remember, missed last season with an injury-the Bills have a very strong defense. The Bills still need a QB-EJ Emmanuel has yet to prove himself-but McCoy is certainly going to give the Bills some punch.

Look, we'll see. Trades often look different in retrospect but this one looks like a great one for Rex but a questionable one for Chip. Maybe he believes in his own offensive genius a little too much: even Phil Jackson isn't winning any games this year without players.

P.S. For awhile it sounded like maybe Josh McGown was headed for Buffalo. With him in Cleveland to mentor Manziel who might be left for Rex? I'm still going there: could it be the Sanchize? It'd be more convenient for Rex with that tattoo of the QB still on his arm. Note that he changed the color from green to blue but didn't change it.

P.S.S. No one seems to want prolific RBs as the Cowboys have let DeMarco Murray go. I hear everyone say that the Cowboys have a great offensive line but they still need an actual RB to run the ball.

If anything this is not just a great day for the Buffalo Bills but perhaps my team, the NY Giants, as they don't have to face McCoy twice a year anymore or Murray-who only ran for over 1800 yards last year.

P.S.S.S. Maybe the Bills are closer to being bullies now, but Kelly's problem may be that he's a bully. He's got what he wants-total control, he's driven out the strong personalities in the locker room, it's his show and now he better win. If the Eagles take a step back, it's on him.
