Mitt Romney's Poor Little Rich Girl

        That was a great Romney fundraiser at the Hampton's Sunday night! Talk about pity the billionaire! All these rich fat cats crying in their Chardonnay-LOL. Mitt of course is the guy real Americans least want to sit down to a beer with-he probably can't even spell beer.

        It's like the time he tried to be one of the guys by declaring, "I love sport." Not sports, but sport. Anyone who speaks like that has never played an American sport in his life. How about the time he flaunted his Michigan roots by declaring "I like cars. The great thing about Michigan is that all the trees are the same height."

      C'mon Mitch, this is all just a little too provincial and insular for me-how can anyone outside the state even relate to such talk? Please easy on the inside baseball.

      A money manager in a green Jeep said it was time for Romney to "up his game and be more reactive." So far, said the donor (who would not give his name because he said it would hurt his business), Romney has had a "very timid offense."

      "A New York City donor a few cars back, who also would not give her name, said Romney needed to do a better job connecting. "I don't think the common person is getting it," she said from the passenger seat of a Range Rover stamped with East Hampton beach permits. "Nobody understands why Obama is hurting them."

    "We've got the message," she added. "But my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies -- everybody who's got the right to vote -- they don't understand what's going on. I just think if you're lower income -- one, you're not as educated, two, they don't understand how it works, they don't understand how the systems work, they don't understand the impact."

        Interesting that that guy in the green jeep knew giving his name would hurt his business. Who would want to do business with someone so miserably self pitying? They've talked themselves into the illusion that they're the "engine of the economy" never asking themselves if this is such a great analogy for them-as Yglesias says, doesn't this mean the engine is shot?

        In truth, of course, as the President pointed out yesterday, most small businesses are not run by people with income over $250,000 a year. So even here this "engine of the economy" talk falls flat. It's simply not true that if you're rich that automatically means you're a job creator.

        "It's not helping the economy to pit the people who are the engine of the economy against the people who rely on that engine," Michael Zambrelli said as the couple waited in their SUV for clearance into the Creeks shortly after the candidate's motorcade flew by and entered the pine-tree lined estate. "He's basically been biting the hand that fed him in '08. ... I would bet 25% of the people here were supporters of Obama in '08. And they're here now."

       Yeah, all because he once used the word "fat cat." For that matter Donald Trump spoke of the President in glowing terms are recently as his 2009 book. Which shows you what thing gruel the Romney base really is.

       Just a bunch of navel gazing fat cats who want someone to tell them it's not their fault, their the good guys, the job creators.
