Mitt Romney Still Refuses to Release His Tax Returns

What is Mitt Romney hiding? With such unparalleled arrogance he needs to understand that his campaign for President is a nonstarter until he releases many years of his tax returns. This morning he was on his favorite network, Fox News, demonstrating that he still doesn't get it:

"Mitt Romney appeared on Fox & Friends Monday morning to respond to the growing number of conservatives who are calling on the former Massachusetts governor to release more of his tax returns.
At least eight Republicans have urged Romney to publicize the records and put the issue behind him, but the candidate is sticking to his guns. The public will see just two years of returns and no more, Romney said, before appearing to admit that the records may contain something politically damaging:
ROMNEY: The Obama people keep on wanting more and more and more. More things to pick through, more things for their opposition research to try make a mountain out of and to distort and to be dishonest about. We’re going to put out two years of tax returns.

There is nothing unprecedented about releasing your tax returns in the presidential race. Every candidate since his father, George Romney, has complied with this convention. Mitt Romney, with his deep sense of arrogance born of his deep sense of entitlement has never showed any respect for the voters, not in Massachusetts when he ran in 2002 and not now for the American people here in 2012.

In Mass, he got away with not releasing anything. After the GOP went after him in the primary he released one and a half returns. Not nearly good enough. President Obama has released 8 years. As Bill Kristol says Mr. Romney must be crazy not to release his returns. That is true, assuming he has nothing to hide. Which is quite a naive assumption at this point.

I can see how he'd make a good investment adviser though. Who wouldn't love to know he he achieved  the magic IRA. IRA's have a limit of $5,000, yet Mitt Romney was able to hide $100 million in his.

"Republicans are also raising alarms about Romney’s returns. “The fact is, there are a couple of years he may not have paid any taxes,” MSNBC host and former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough predicted during Monday’s Morning Joe. “Maybe he’s concerned about that. But if it’s going to come out, he needs to get it out now so he has a couple of months to explain it.”

Until he answers this question, Mitt Romney basically has no right to speak at all, as far as I'm concerned. It's like an interview. The employer, the American people, have requested more information. As long as he wastes time not complying with the requirement, it's he who's wasting time. There are only about 3 and a half months till the election.
