This idea of the election being a pure referendum on Obama and the economy, where, if you aren't totally happy with where it is, then you have to give him 1000% of the blame and vote him out assumes voters have short memories and also takes away any GOP responsibility.
After all, what has the GOP Congress done for the economy? As Paul Ryan is the leader of the GOP Congress this race can be seen as a contest between the President and the Republican Congress. Guess who's more popular?
What we should not forget is Mitch McConnell's statement of his number one priority back in 2010-making him a one term President.
Notice what he did not say. He did not say that his number one priority was to fix the economy or create jobs.
Just like Rush Limbaugh, McConnell just wanted to see the President fail. So the GOP Congress has been rooting against the economy in a hope it will give them a victory. Should this be rewarded? As Greg Sargent says, Romney is "salivating" at the prospect of a bad jobs report Friday to use against the President.
Doesn't this make it clear that Romney lied on Thursday when he claimed he wanted the President to succeed for the good of the country? He's still rooting against America on the hope this will benefit him personally.
"On Friday, a day after the Democratic convention is set to end with Obama’s speech, the monthly jobs numbers are set to come out. According to Politico, the Romney campaign is already salivating at the chance to use bad economic news to overshadow the message and enthusiasm coming out of the convention."
Does that sound like he wants either the President or even the country to succeed?
