The fact that the price of gas has mitigated since late April should be a good thing for the economy. However, it's not good news for the Republicans.
This is Morgan Warstler's GOP, where it's only good for the Sun to rise during Republican Administrations. The GOP was all set to hammer Obama and slur the "Obama Recession" on him. However, the economy started showing more strength late last year and Obama's approval ratings started to rise.
Good for the country, cursed by the GOP. They made this choice very early in the President's term that they weren't going to even try to fix the country's deep recession when they got to Washington in 2009 but rather go on a campaign of politicizing everything, of making everything right down to whether the Sun comes up in the morning a partisan issue.
The thing they had hung their hat on back in February is that they way to attack the President was by hanging rising gas prices on him. He's singlehandedly responsible for gas prices-after all they had doubled since he took office. Gingrich took this crude game of correlation proves causation to the extreme promising absurdly that if he were elected he could guarantee the country $2.50 gas for ever more.
"Since early April, gasoline prices have eased 18.7 cents to $3.754 a gallon this week, amid fears about the fiscal crisis in Europe and efforts by countries such as Saudi Arabia to boost oil supplies. Mr. Stanley said he expects the drop will be temporary and that prices will rise this summer, as is typical."
