JT Ready and the Nasty Legacy of Anti-Immigration Politics

Apologists for draconian laws like Arizona's SB1070 try to claim that it's just about border security that it's not bigotry, it's not anti Hispanic hatred and fear about the idea that Whites are losing their majority.

However, the very recent tragedy where JT Ready killed his girlfriend, her family and finally himself underscores the fact that this is false. Mr. Ready was a Neo Nazi.

But what's really disconcerting are the friends Mr. Ready had. This guy was not just some fringe weirdo. He was very concerned with "border security" and was good friends with for example, Russell Pearce the former Republican President of the State Senate. There's  a picture of the two a few years ago looking like buddies.

Pearce has been insisting that he knew nothing about Ready's Neo Nazi life but we also have Pearce's own appalling emails in 2006 talking about the attack on those who want to protect the White majority.

Pearce was the first Arizona politician to be impeached in 2010. The state GOP thought this earned him the job of party chairman. He's now running for Senate again. Remember-SB 1070, the famous "Papers Please" law that legalized systematic racial profiling against Hispanics.

Of course the actualy writer of SB 1070 is Kansas's GOP Secretary of State who if you go into history of it you'll see that the reasoning behind the bill for Kobach was similar the JT Ready's-concern that White's keep their majority.

Then again Kobach is part of the Romney campaign though he claims he's just a "supporter." So for those who think Ready was just a "lone nut" that's unfortunately not true. He has deep ties to the Arizona Republican party and it was racism that inspired SB1070 not border security.
