In Coming NYC Mayoral Election Has Mike Bloomberg Learned His Lesson?

Maybe. He more or less endorsed Christine Quinn going into this week's primary and we saw what that gave Quinn.

It seems clear who he supports in this election-it's certainly not Blasio.

"Bloomberg appeared to offer an indirect endorsement of mayoral hopefuls Christine Quinn (D) and Joe Lhota (R) in an interview with New York magazine published this week. The mayor said he thought The New York Times got it right when the newspaper endorsed both Quinn and Lhota."

Meanwhile NYC Democrats are urging Thompson to drop his demand for a recount between himself as de Blasio-as de Blasio got the required threshold of 40% in the primary there is no runoff. However, Thompson is hoping a recount will show something different.

"Thompson hasn’t conceded, and says he wants every vote counted to see whether he qualifies for a runoff, which would be held Oct. 1. Democrats across the spectrum have urged him to drop out, given that de Blasio is already at the crucial 40 percent mark needed to avoid a runoff.."

Certainly would lend my voice to that chorus. C'mon Thompson, you'll win the next race. In another favorable development for de Blasio, the Clinton's have embraced him early.

"The Clintons have a new ally from the new generation of liberal elected officials: Bill de Blasio, the favorite to become New York City’s next mayor."

"Both Bill and Hillary Clinton called de Blasio, the campaign manager on Hillary Clinton’s 2000 Senate race in New York, to congratulate him on primary night, when he finished at the 40 percent mark over his closest rival, Bill Thompson, who’s just over 26 percent."

Ok. Today, De Blasio, tomorrow HIllary, the day after-Chelsea? What I would pay to see that in my life time. Governor Cuomo, however, apparently has taken issue with some of de Blasio's tax plan-rais the taxes on the rich to pay for universal pre-K. For me the most arresting thing is that it;s still not universal yet.

With an election next year, Cuomo may be hedging. I have two thoughts on the coming Mayoral race.

     1. May the better man win.

     2. De Blassio is the better man.

His presumptive opponent, Reublican Joe Lhota seem to agree. After all, he's supporting de Blasio's tax plan.

Actually he's doing the Mitt Romney shuffle. He will fund the it without raising taxes on the rich. Just like Romney was both Mr. Obamacare and the man who would repeal it 'on day one' Lhota is Mr. For and Against.

UPDATE: Wall St. is not too excited about the Republican nominee either figuring that this is not a Republican year and never a Republican state.
