King vs. Burwell: Her Ignorance isn't Bliss for Us

One of the plaintiffs in the case that could destroy federal exchanges for Obamacare has no idea that's what her lawsuit does:

"The story of the day comes from Mother Jones’ Stephanie Mencimer, whowent to talk to the plaintiffs in the King v. Burwell suit to see what they had to say:

When I asked her if she realized that her lawsuit could potentially wipe out health coverage for millions, she looked befuddled. “I don’t want things to be more difficult for people,” she said. “I don’t like the idea of throwing people off their health insurance.”
Levy was under the impression that if the case prevailed, someone would surely fix the insurance situation, probably at the local level. “I think [Virginia's Democratic Gov.] Terry McAuliffe wants to expand Medicaid,” she remarked. She didn’t know that the Medicaid expansion was part of Obamacare, or that the same forces backing her lawsuit have opposed this expansion in her state. She was also unaware that there is no Plan B in the works to rescue the people who could lose their insurance if her case is successful.

Again, Michael Kinsley is proven right: democracy can goof and it's in danger of goofing again with folks like this running around.

A lot of people don't like smart people especially smart people who know their smart-this is the whole point of a movie like Revenge of the Nerds. Me, I can't stand stupid people as they ruin it for everyone. You might say this woman isn't stupid just ignorant but really in this case does this distinction really make a difference?

It is at all intelligent to not not even know the basic implications of a case you're pushing all the way to the SJC?

Meanwhile Sandra Day O-Connor came to regret taking the Gore-Bush election case in 2000 but now the Court is in risk of again overstepping it's bounds here by potentially setting itself up as the 3rd House of the Republican Congress.

On the other hand, the New Republic argue that the establishment GOP is quite nervous about winning this case.
