Actually, saying he's unimpressed is something of an understatement. He thinks it's the dumbest idea he's ever heard-and remember he was here for Newt Gingrich shutting down the government.
"Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC) on Thursday tore into efforts by his GOP colleagues to shut down the government if Democrats don't agree to defund Obamacare."

Perhaps we can add Burr as the latest Senate Republican to join the Compromise Caucus (CC). Upstanding members-John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and Bob Corker. Just more evidence that the many Senate GOPers are tired of scorched earth opposition on even the smallest matters.

However, that's the Senate. We get by now that a lot of Senate Republicans are not too excited about debt ceiling 3.0 and are sick of brinkmanship in general. However, listen to the House Republican Tom Cole:
“Seems to me there’s appropriate ways to deal with the law, but shutting down the government to get your way over an unrelated piece of legislation is political equivalent of throwing a temper tantrum,” he said Wednesday on Fox News. “It’s just not helpful. And it is the sort of thing that creates a backlash and could cost the Republicans the majority in the House, which is after all the last line of defense against the president. And it could materially undercut the ability of the Republicans in the Senate to have the majority in 2014 which they have a decent chance to do.”
Cole sums it up as well as it can be here. The Tea Party has been trying to win legislative battles via filibustering executive nominees for agencies they don't like-the NLRB and the new Financial Consumer Protection Board-and threatening not to raise the debt ceiling. It's good to see that there are Republicans who get that this perversion of the nomenclature of government has got to stop.
What is going to be interesting is how many other House Republicans agree with Cole? He's certainly not a liberal. If there are many more like him then maybe we might finally get rid of this sequester that is doing much harm-and will do more in the future until it's replaced with something better-which isn't hard as the sequester is terrible.

"I think it's the dumbest idea I've ever heard of," he told reporters. "Listen, as long as Barack Obama is president, the Affordable Care Act is going to be law."
"I was around in '95. I think some of these guys need to understand, you shut down the federal government, you better have a specific reason to do it that's achievable. Defunding the Affordable Care Act is not achievable through shutting down the federal government."

"Cole made the same point to National Review in an article published Thursday."
“I don’t think you ought to try to blackmail the administration on a fight that they won politically in the House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court by threatening to shut down the government,” he said.
