I guess he's been having cocktails with Bob Woodward or Maureen Dowd something. Where else did he learn to talk like this:
President Obama "obviously likes giving speeches more than he does running the executive branch," Chris Matthews said tonight.

Painful to see: he's come down with full-blown Green Lantern Theory of Presidential Leadership.
I'll tell you something. I may be an Obama apologist but I still think that's less shameful-by a mile-to people like Mathews. I mean talk about a fair weather friend. I guess at the end of the day he too is a creature of the Washington Beltway.

For VSP, the facts don't matter, just "narratives" and optics. Maybe Mathews can't stand to not be part of the-mindless-Beltway pack. When they're all throwing stones he has to get in on it too. Again, facts don't matter which is why all his complaints are wholly lacking in content. What does any of this kvetching even mean?
"What part of the presidency does Obama like? He doesn't like dealing with other politicians -- that means his own cabinet, that means members of the congress, either party. He doesn't particularly like the press.... He likes to write the speeches, likes to rewrite what Favreau and the others wrote for the first draft," Matthews said.

"So what part does he like? He likes going on the road, campaigning, visiting businesses like he does every couple days somewhere in Ohio or somewhere," Matthews continued. "But what part does he like? He doesn't like lobbying for the bills he cares about. He doesn't like selling to the press. He doesn't like giving orders or giving somebody the power to give orders. He doesn't seem to like being an executive.”
More and more, I have come to see that I'm right about partisanship: it's better to be a partisan hack who stands by what's really important to you than just shifting with the winds like the VSP do. If these people worried as much about doing their own jobs as they do lecturing the President on how to do his we'd have an actual media rather than a joke.
