I Go There: Democrats Should Try Diary of a Republican Hater

No doubt, I'm politically incorrect, to say the least, with my claim of hating Republicans. However, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. Plus I just like provocative names; originally, I had intended to call myself Abortion on Demand, but forgot when I set up this blog and the rest is history.

Democrats always trying to please the David Brookses and Maureen Dowds of the world may not want to admit to reading me in the light of day. That's ok. Still, now, of all times. dare I suggest that Democrats should be boning up on Diary? The GOP is trying to submerge the Administration is a sea of scandals-Benghazi, IRS 501(c)(4) and now Associated Press subpoenas.

Mostly the Dems seem to be laboring under the philosophy of sharing the GOP and Bob Woodward Media's outrage. Up to a point, that may well be legitimate. Answers should be sought in the IRS case-though the reality is that there really is a problem with certain groups abusing the tax exempt status-which gives them an effective subsidy on our dime.

If some Tea Party groups got more scrutiny, it may well be deserved and an-honest-investigation-rather than a partisan Republican witch hunt-may well discover that there has been considerable abuse here.

Similarly on the Associated Press revelations, we should get answers. Still, the quickness of GOPers to use the word impeachment doesn't give us much confidence that this won't be a partisan hack job.

Dems are going to have to stiffen their spine considerably, I'm afraid. Harry Reid, was careful not to give away the store-at first glance I thought he had, but he did cover himself:

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) joined his fellow Democrats on Monday in condemning an admission by the Internal Revenue Agency that employees inappropriately singled out conservative non-profit groups for further reviews during the 2012 election, but advised that "no one should jump to conclusions" before an independent review by the Treasury Department's Inspector General."

"The alleged actions of IRS employees in the Cincinnati field office would be a terrible breach of the public's trust, whether they are investigating conservative groups or liberal groups, they should not be involved in this," Reid said on the Senate floor. "Targeting any group based on its political stance is completely inappropriate. We need to get to the bottom of what happened and the inspector general will get to the bottom of this.

Still, he does at least recognize the need not to jump to conclusions.

"He added: "In the meantime, no one should jump to conclusions. We should all rest assured as soon as we have the inspector general's report, the Senate will swiftly take appropriate action. I have spoken today to the senior senator from Montana, hairman of the Finance Committee, Max Baucus, and he is looking into this matter in his role as finance chairman of that committee."

This is important, because while some Democrats may legitimately want to get to the truth and do what's needed to remedy the situation, the GOP just wants go gain politically. They are an intellectually and morally bankrupted party and all this just fills the gaping vacuum that is their-lack of-a principled core.

My argument for reading Diary right now, is that much of the media is simply going on a frenzy, carrying the GOP's water for it. At least here you get the other side. In a political environment where the media filter may well be deafening, Diary keeps things honest.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
