Listening to Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN this morning-Channel 35 here in Nassau-it really got on my nerves to have the Mikes giving all this credence to Kurt Warner's claims that he doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.
The argument is that somehow Eli "lacks a body of work" that Peyton Manning and Tom Brady have. Sure, I mean no matter how many times Eli beats Brady, it's ridiculous to consider him on the same level. One of the Mike's in particular-my apologies in not knowing which one, there's a Mike Galic and Mike Greenburg, I think Mike Galic was the one really carrying Warner's water.
The funny thing is that Mike seems to want to claim that Eli isn't a Hall of Famer because taking his regular season numbers in isolation don't compare to Peyton or Brady's regular season numbers considered in isolation.
I don't buy it. Really regular season numbers aren't as important as postseason. What's funny is that Mike totally contradicts himself by claiming that Joe Namath and Kurt Warner are Hall of Famers-who at least admits that not everyone would agree about Warner.
Fact is though that Namath never had incredible numbers over the trajectory of his career. Mike claims that it's so important to have gaudy regular season numbers yet Namath didn't have much of that. When this was pointed out to him his answer is basically that Super Bowl III made him. Yet this was exactly what Warner tried to claim-that winning one Super Bowl can be luck and shouldn't be enough to do it all by itself. Yet that's the only argument for Namath.
The other Mike actually brought up a good point in discussing Warner's numbers. For his whole career he had only 4 more games played than Eli does now. A whole bunch of years he missed a bunch of games. In fact he managed only about three full 16 game seasons.
My take it on this is the Eli naysayers always have to grasp at some straws no matter how weak.
Democrat supporters need to lay off that crack, they're the reason our Healthcare is fucked up for electing that moron in office that lied about his Healthcare plan.
ReplyDeleteI guess you give this advice through your own long experience. Why'd you leave this comment on a post about Curt Warner?
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't get is why this was a great Healthcare plan when Romney did it. That there's no answer for. By the way 9 million will be singed up for it by March which is a success by any measure so I guess you're the one who can lay off the crack.
