I have certainly often not been a fan of New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg. I found his dismissive comments following the criticism over the botched snow removal akin to Marie Antoninette's "let em eat cake." Also I think he is really pushing ti with his 3rd mayoral term and is ironic that he was critical of Giuliani after Rudy tried opportunistically to argue after 9/11 that he couldn't step down after the constitutionally mandated 2 terms as he was that essential to keeping NYC safe.
Still Bloomberg nails it sometimes too as he did in the latest flak he is getting flak over. On Friday Bloomberg spoke of riots possibly erupting here in NY, "We have a lot of kids graduating college who can't find jobs," the mayor said on his weekly radio show. "That's what happened in Cairo. That's what happened in Madrid. You don't want those kinds of riots here."
The criticsm of him here seems to largely focus on "tone." Hours after Bloomberg's radio show, Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-Brooklyn) held a press conference to promote Obama's job plan.
"Like the mayor, she urged decisive action-though in more temperate tones."
New York Post, Saturday, 9/17/11 (pg. 5).
I don't know, in this case I don't mind Bloomberg's intemperance. He and Rep Velazquez have a different style but in this case I even like his style; I like Ms. Velazquez's style too just think each used the best style for themselves. Bloomberg is even technically right as we have seen protests on Wall Street itself , today is the third day for those.
