Some Fire With Cain's Smoke

Cain's strategy of dismissing his accusers for not coming forward with salacious details is over. Looks like he'll have to adopt a new one. The strategy some of his supporters have adopted so far is to point out that she's been through a few bankruptcies. Well, then case closed! Anyone who has ever been bankrupt is a bad person whose word is not to be believed. After all, God is a bondholder and running a delinquent account is the unpardonable sin. Maybe all women who make accusations of sexual harassment should first of all submit to a credit check. If they're under a 700 their suit should be summarily dismissed.

In truth it shows how bankrupt the Cain people are becoming. But this tactic of going into full frontal attack against Sharon Bialek, the first woman to dare to go public, will likely backfire. If the Republican primary voters are so Neanderthal as not to be appalled by such ugliness on the part of Cain this won't be the case for the mainstream electorate. Again, as observed previously, if Cain somehow wins the primary it is all to the best from the Democratic point of view. This is why the Republicans are tyring to bring down his stock-Gingrich is the latest to say that it is only a matter of time for Cain until this hurts him after Rove completely pulled the rug from under him yesterday. If you want nastiness listen to Cain's friends in their attempt at damage control:

The Friends of Herman Cain also attacked Bialek: “After attacking Herman Cain through anonymous accusers for a week, his opponents have now convinced a woman with a long history of severe financial difficulties, including personal bankruptcy, to falsely accuse the Republican front-runner of events occurring over a decade ago for which there is no record, nor even a complaint filed.”

Last week the strategy was to attack Cain's accusers for being anonymous, now that one come forward these are the gutter tactics they engage in. Those who claimed we need specifics to hold Cain accountable-a canard I never bought into-have their specifics. It was a lot more than simple workplace banter too.

"Bialek said she met Cain for dinner in the summer of 1997 after she had lost her job at a foundation affiliated with the National Restaurant Association. She told the packed press conference that the incident took place in a car after a dinner meeting in Washington."
“He suddenly reached over and put his hand on my leg under my skirt and reached for my genitals,” said Bialek, a Chicago native who worked for the foundation for roughly six months in 1997, according to the Restaurant Association.“He also grabbed my head and pushed it toward his crotch.”

So he groped her and tried to pull her head into his crotch? Is that all? Not nearly as serious as Anthony Weiner twitterting a picture over the Internet. Where is Andrew Breitbart now? Any way, even if it's true I mean so what? She has or at some point in her life has had a poor credit score. I mean you can no more sexually assault someone with a bad credit score than a street hooker-who as it's her job to have sex has no grounds to complain of rape.

So the Friends of Cain have their details and their name. Their new strategy is not a good one. This chosen cure for Cain's sick campaign will prove to be worse than the disease.
