I had a very revealing dustup with some Bernie Maniacs earlier over my somewhat tongue in cheek post that said if Bernie wins the nomination maybe I go Trump.

What was interesting was that Elizabeth Brueing was the Bernie Maniacs leader in this Twitter war. What really got them is I suggested Trump can beat Bernie. I maintain that view. I don't think his pious act translates to a general. There's a reason the people of Vermont never elected him Governor. That's too an important a job.
Yet she started literally chanting at me 'Kill, kill, kill the poor!' Over and over again. I did mention Bernie's weakness on women's issues and right away Ms. Bruening went full Maureen Dowd on me. She claims that Hillary plays the gender card by discussing women's issues.
She then played the gender card herself by saying because I'm a man and she's a woman it's sexist of me to mention women's issues in her presence. She wants to be an individual and talk of women's rights robs her of that right.
Again, this is why gender equity is way behind racial equity no matter that the opposite is believed. Just to mention women's issues is somehow 'playing the gender card.' No one would ever think of accusing African Americans of playing that in 2008 just because they wanted to vote for a qualified Democratic black President.
You know let's just stop discussing race, the better to treat blacks like individuals.
The treatment of Hillary, the hatred of her by much of the Beltway-I've now gotten into it with three Hillary haters in the last few days-Cillizza, Ryan Cooper and now Elizabeth Brueing of the New Republic.
Talking to them I am now more convinced than ever that a lot of the hatred of Hillary is over gender. I mean compare the treatment of her compared with Bernie where even simply looking at his policy proposals with anything less than reverence is treated as a 'dirty attack.'
And the Hillary haters are so indignant over the gender issue precisely because they hate Hillary for sexist reasons-both male and female Hillary haters. Women can be sexist too.
Maureen Dowd has been the most relentlessly hostile Hillary hater for 25 years. She plays the meme that Brueing hinted at today.
Accusing Hillary of 'using her gender' while using her own gender to launch the kind of sexist and misogynistic attacks no man would be allowed to get away with.
And this is a game that Carly Fiorina delights in .She accuses HRC of playing the gender card by talking about feminism but in fact Fiorina herself is the one playing the gender card by saying she's the best to run against Hillary for no other reason than they're both women and she can attack HRC in vile personal terms a man may not be able to get away with.
So she did this again tonight:
Carly Fiorina wasted no time taking a not-so-veiled shot at Hillary Clinton in her opening statement.
"I'm not a political insider. I haven't spent my lifetime running for office. The truth is, I've had, and been blessed by a lot of opportunities to do a lot of things in my life. And unlike another woman in this race, I actually love spending time with my husband," Fiorina said, to laughter and applause.
She offered the same line at a pre-debate town hall, as well.

This is just silly on so many levels where to start. She stayed out of politics-until now-to hang out with her husband? Meanwhile her last 6 years with hubby haven't been voluntary but because she lost the California Governor race.
And politics is actually the glue that keeps the Clintons so close. In a sense it's what makes their story a great American story. Maybe someday it will be told right.
As they both love politics and public service this has kept them together. If she hadn't been into politics they'd actually have spent less time together, so even here it's a silly argument.
I have to say, the voters knew what they were doing in relegating Fiorina back at the Kid's Table.

ReplyDeleteTK. It's edited
ReplyDeleteHillary Haters, Bernie Maniacs (AKA "BMs?"), and Emoprogs (I guess Firebaggers are no-more). It's fun to watch you dueling them all... (seems like I'm forgetting one group... what is it you call the crowd that gets set off too easily by "trigger events?" Not BLM, but a more general term... ...a step beyond "politically correct")
ReplyDeleteYes, that's largely the colleges. It''s emphatic correctness where any 'discomfort' or 'unhappiness' they may every happen to have it on you and you better apologize Mr.
