Republicans Don't Learn Joe Scarborough Edition

It seems like he's become much more enamored of Trump now that he went after Bill Clinton's sex life.

Morning Joe was in Congress in the 90s and he and his fellow GOPers tried to take him down over Monica Lewinsky, etc. It failed miserably. The GOP lost a couple of speakers on the Jihad and actually lost seats in the 1998 off year election  which was quite unprecedented.

Now, however, he's convinced himself that while Bill Clinton's sex life didn't destroy Bill it will destroy Hillary-just because.

He's claiming that Hillary can't call Trump or any other GOPer a sexist as her husband had affairs on her and she was doubly publicly embarrassed for it. No, the new line is that she is a fake feminist because she wasn't willing to destroy her husband's career in the face of charges from a bunch of GOP hypocrites.

Think about this argument. No woman can be a feminist if her husband cheated on her in the past and she didn't immediately divorce him and throw him out to dry to her husband's political enemies.

Supposedly Hillary should have taken the side of the woman who slept with her husband in order to help her own political enemies triumph over her and her husband.

Or she's not allowed to say women should be believed.  This is not a new argument-that the odious Maureen Dowd is again pushing. In the 90s feminists like Gloria Steinem and Erica Jong were criticized by phonies like Morning Joe and Maureen Dowd who care nothing about women's rights that it was the feminists setting back women's rights by not helping the enemies of women's rights politically.

Hillary got it right yesterday. It didn't work then and it won't work now.

"Some opponents of Hillary Clinton have decided that their only chance of defeating her is to focus on the personal life of her husband Bill Clinton, with republican frontrunner Donald Trump leading the charge in particular. Trump has been using his Twitter account to attempt to pick a fight with Bill for weeks, to little avail. Hillary herself now has a message for those who are brazen enough to take on the enduringly popular former President."

“More power to them,” said Hillary Clinton this morning on CBS Face The Nation. She pointed out how past republican attacks on Bill Clinton have backfired on all counts, suggesting that “They can do it again if they want to.” Meanwhile Trump has taken the bully tactics he’s been using against his republican opponents to great effect, and is now attempting to apply them to his potential democratic opponent. The trouble: it’s not the same audience."
"Trump has only had to impress conservative voters by bullying his republican opponents into submission. But those tactics don’t tend to work on the moderate and mainstream voters who usually decide Presidential elections. Moreover, those in the middle have tended to conclude that Bill Clinton did a strong job as President and that his personal indiscretions were a mere footnote compared to the republican corruption that followed. Or as Hillary put it this morning, “Didn’t work before, it won’t work again.”
