Happy Memorial Day America! A Day for Gratitude and Thanks

I got to say my Haitian friend, Ralph, ought to be a politician himself-as he wrote a great speech today on Facebook-which is not to suggest that his words are in any way fake. When he came to this country in the 70s he went out of his way to enlist to the army at a time many Americans didn't want to.

"Today we celebrate Memorial Day as a token of appreciation to those who died fighting for our freedom. We honor their ultimate sacrifices to protect the ideals and values that we stand for. I personally hope and pray there won't be any more wars as each child deserves a chance to grow up with his(her) father. One country, one love."

President Obama gave a pretty great speech today himself.

"n a Memorial Day speech that saw him receive several standing ovations, President Obama thanked the troops who came home and those who didn’t and marked the first Memorial Day in 14 years in which the United States was not fighting a ground war in Afghanistan.

I'm also thankful Obama is our President.

Hopefully you are enjoying your day off. It's a good day to reflect and also relax-I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. The Yanks have helped me enjoy the day even more by breaking out of their slump like an erupting volcano blowing away the Royals who came in with the best record in baseball with 3 hrs in the first and another in the second with 5 for the game in a 14-1 win snapping a 6 game lose streak-KC had busted Yankee chops pretty good last week in KC so this was particularly satisfying
