He doesn't sound like he does. I'm disappointed that he is making such a rush to judgment here regarding Tom Brady. He and his First Take partner have been going back and forth on this for weeks.
Sometimes I agree with him over Skip-like in the case of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, Skip needs to let it go as Manny lost the fight and while I don't go as far as Stephen A who declares as if he knows authoritatively that Manny didn''t hurt his shoulder before the fight-I believe he did as he had asked for the pain killer previous to the fight and there is documentation of this-nevertheless there is no question Manny lost the fight. If he were injured previous to the fight as I can believe then frankly I think me and the other fans who paid $100 deserve our money back.
On Brady, though, he's dead wrong. He seems to have a problem with Brady based on 2 things:
1. The NFL claims he didn't cooperate with their investigation
2. He feels that Brady should have come out with a full throated profression of is innocence.
What seems to run through these 2 complaints is Smith's assumption that an innocent person would 'cooperate' with the NFL-as vague as that demand is. When Skip calls him on how vague it is he defines 'cooperate' was whatever the NFL's definition is.
I think the late, great, Marvin Miller would be rolling over in his grave as he fought so hard to give athletes the belief taht they have a right to fight for their own rights.
Yes, he dealt with baseball players but he felt this equally applied to football, basketball, etc. Has Stephen A never heard of Miranda rights? Does he think that the only people who will take Miranda and remain silent are guilty people?
Tom Brady has a right to due process and a the right not to incriminate himself or testify against himself-even if such self-incrimination is baptized by Goodell and Stephen A under the Holy names of 'cooperating with the game of football' and 'In the interests of the game.'
I would think that Stephen A who I have a lot respect for should know better than this. Even his buddy Vilma-who successfully fought the Bountygate charges says the same thing-that Brady should not talk about this in public and try the case in the court of public opinion.

Why would an innocent person not want to 'cooperate' with a politically motivated investigation? As an educated black man like Smith, it's astonishing he needs this explained to him.
UPDATE: See this as well that shows pretty clearly that it'd be foolish for Brady to 'just cooperate' even if he is 100% innocent.
