Obama's Recovering Poll Numbers

A number of pundits talked about how Obama may be headed for a recovery in poll numbers that have been in the low 40s the last year and a half-not great numbers though better than Bush.

Just on Friday, Gallup had done a piece about how little his approval ratings have vacillated during 2014-with a low of 40 and a high of 45.

What's amazing is just one day after talk of his popularity being in a narrow range he exploded out of that this afternoon. He now has a 47% approval rating with 49% disapproving.

        What's going on is manifold.

There is an economy seemingly running into higher gear. There is the major bump in the Latino community the President has gained through his EO on immigration. There is the Cuba change what is widely popular across the country.

I do think though as I've suggested before that a big part of it is that Americans respect his new moxie. They like his defiance. That he has not come out prostrate just because the GOP won a low turnout election.

He is acting with the courage of his convictions and Americans appreciate that. Compare that to the GOP that has no real agenda other than opposing whatever the President does largely because he does it where half the time they would agree with it if it wasn't he that did it. What's key now is that the country is finding some increased respect for him now. It's  a wonderful thing to see.
