Chris Christy Lashes Out at 'Wild Eyed Left Wing Blogs'

I just don't think he's been honest with himself here.

"New Jersey Gov. Christie's (R) office apparently thinks "left-wing blogs" are to blame for the competing theories about who and what was behind the decision to close lanes on the George Washington Bridge in September."
"We're not commenting on every wild-eyed conspiracy theory that's originating on left-wing blogs," Reed told the cable news network."

"One of the theories that has been floated by New Jersey Democrats is that the shutdown wasrevenge against a local mayor who declined to endorse Christie's re-election. Another, first raised by MSNBC host Rachel Maddow, is that it was retaliation against a local senator who blocked the governor's court nominees. A third, raised by MSNBC host Steve Kornacki and former Jersey political reporter Brian Murphy, is that the closures may have been somehow tied to a nearby real estate development."

I think he fails to appreciate though the sense that this conspiracy that clearly did happen-the argument is whether he knew or not, no one, not even he, denies it happening-really was crazier than any fiction, that no wild eyed conspiracy buff could have dreamed up this kind of a scenario.

I mean is there anything wild-eyed about the idea that the Governor knew about this? I don't think so. Quite the opposite-you'd have to convince me not that he was involved but that he wasn't. Just common sense. However, if he really didn't know, then his image as a tough, no-nonsense guy who's on top of everything is completely fraudulent.

Is it wrong that I'm smiling? This is what someone asked David Wildstein-the very corrupt Christy official out at the Port Authority who led the lane shutdowns. It's now been suggested that the smiling one may have been Christy himself. I know, here I go again with my wild-eyed left-wing blogging all over the place.

"Also part of the delegation were Bill Baroni, another former executive at the Port Authority, and David Samson, the Port Authority chairman. Both Wildstein and Baroni announced their resignations from the Port Authority after Democrats in New Jersey began asking questions about possible political motives for the lane closures."

"Photographs obtained by the Wall Street Journal show Christie standing next to Wildstein on Sept. 11.
As the Journal pointed out, Christie said at a press conference last week that he had not had contact with Wildstein “in a long time.”

“I have had no contact with David Wildstein in a long time, a long time, well before the election,” Christie said. “You know, I could probably count on one hand the number of conversations I’ve had with David since he worked at the Port Authority. I did not interact with David.”

While I don't want to undestimate teh imagination of wild-eyed left-wing bloggers-'I am one'-I don't think they could have written this so well. Like when at his 106 minute press conference last week he thought it important to stress that he and Wildstein didn't hang in the same circles back when they went to the same High School together-Wildstein was anywhere near as cool as him.

I mean you never hear bullies say things like that-you know dismiss them for not being cool enough to hangout with them.  Just ask yourself: why is this man smiling?

If you answered to celebrate the closing of 4 lanes on the GWB with the express purpose of punishing Democratic motorists you'd be right. Who needs conspiracies with factual stories like this?
