Where are A-Rod's Critics Now?

Even the NY Post has given up throwing mud at him now on the front and back pages. Coming into this season I thought he might have 20 hrs-but who thought he'd be there 1 game after the All-Star break?

Yes, eat your hearts out A-Rod haters. There was such desire among the Very Serious People among the baseball pundits to see him fail, fall on his face, and fizzle out this year as VSP gloated. That was their dream season but it didn't quite work out that way:

For so many, Alex Rodriguez is providing something close to their worst-case scenario.

"There is zero doubt many fans, media members and even those within Major League Baseball—uniformed or not—wanted A-Rod to fall flat on his face in 2015, to resemble the broken-down, washed-up player he was in 2012 and 2013. Only worse."

"Ideally for those people irate at the performance-enhancing-drug scandals he has been named in, Rodriguez would have come off his yearlong suspension handed down by former commissioner Bud Selig and been a disaster for the New York Yankees. That would have appeased the masses."

"Except A-Rod isn’t playing along. Instead, he’s doing all that his soon-to-be-40-year-old body is capable of to turn back the clock to his glory days. The effort continued Friday night when Rodriguez thumped a go-ahead home run in the seventh inning to push the Yankees to a 4-3 win over the Seattle Mariners at Yankee Stadium."

Again-19 hrs a game after. In many ways he's a perfect symbol of this 2015 Yankees team who like A-Rod wasn't expected to much this year-and there was a lot of smugness in this pessimism. We had pundits claiming that they'd be lucky to win 81 games and that the Mets are going to be the real story this year in NY.

Yet here they Yanks are with last night's win a 49-40 record and a 4 and 1/2 lead in the AL East. As impressive as A-Rod's 19 are, they don't even lead the team-that honor falls to his fellow grey beard teammate Mark Teixeira who has 22.

These 2 are the inspiration for the team but what makes this team look like it could be formidable in a playoff run is that bullpen. Between Miller and Betances, you have 7 innings to outscore the Yanks.

For some reason people love to bet against the Yankees despite what history clearly shows.
