On a personal, human level your heart can't but go out to his grief stricken parents. One of the cruelest fates is to have to bury a child-there's nothing worse than this as it's not the way it's supposed to be.
With that said, Hannity's interview of them shows the unseemliness of using this personal tragedy as a political prop to attack the President. As much as we empathize with Ken and Joesphine Terry and share their grief the fact is that their natural desire for clarity and closure on this human tragedy is being used by Hannity, Issa, and friends as a political weapon.
The Terry's are heartbroken and just want to know what happened and why. Of course Hannity and friends have a ready made narrative-it was all President Obama's fault. He killed their son-wantonly and purposefully. We noted in the previous post that this is the Arkansas Project all over again. And now we have our Vince Foster in the person of Brian Terry.
So the Terry's join in with the fevered horrible rhetoric against the President and they like Hannity or Issa or al lthe other GOP hatchet men clearly have no evidence or proof behind their terrible accusations. In a vaccum they take the Repug's fishing expedition at face value:
"The parents of slain U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry accused the Obama administration of “lying” and “hiding something” about the Fast and Furious gunwalking operation, which was linked to the 2010 killing of their son."
“I think they are hiding something. I think they are lying and they are hiding… big time. Passing the buck,” Ken Terry said on Fox’s “Hannity” on Thursday evening. “I got a gut feeling on that. I just know that they are hiding something big. Something happened out there, and worse than what we know.”

See this is just like Hannity sounds-'I think they are hiding something', 'I have a gut feeling' 'I just know' they're hiding something and it's 'worse than we know'.
We don't know what it is, We don't even have a coherent theory. But we know, we have a gut feeling it was something really, really bad. Who needs actual evidence?
"With Terry’s parents, there was a palpable sense of loss and anger — the two spoke in short, staggered sentences in response to Hannity’s questions."
“I probably couldn’t say on camera what I would like to say to him,” Ken Terry said regarding his feelings toward President Barack Obama.
“I was very furious. I was very upset,” he added, speaking about when he first found out about the concept of gunwalking and the fact that it was linked to his son’s death. “It’s like a bad dream, like I’m going to wake up.”
See, it's all about ringmaster Hannity as he fills the vacuum for them gives them someone to blame for their son's death, gives them someone to hate for their son's death which is always what a family wants after losing a loved one. It's totally natural and I or anyone else would feel the same. But shame on the Republican Big Lie machine for exploiting it and manipulating these despairing people.
"Josephine Terry said that Attorney General Eric Holder had apologized to them in “a letter, after it was made public in the media.”
"She also mentioned that the president called the two of them at the funeral home after their son was buried. But neither found this sufficient, and noted that the president didn’t tell them about the Fast and Furious operation or its details at that time."
“You couldn’t understand what he was saying,” Ken Terry said
That's a head scratcher-why could he not understand what the President was saying? They all speak English after all. In truth Eric Holder and his DOJ have worked tirelessly to investigate and get to the bottom of what happened. Indeed he offered to bring in ATF workers to the Issa hearings to get at what really happened. Issa wasn't interested. The only thing he's interested is digging up dirt on Mr. Holder and the President personally. What really happened is the last thing on his mind.
How about if Brian Terry was selling guns to gun runners when the deal went bad and he was killed. The Attorney General finds out about this and decides to cover that up rather than subject the family to what would essentially be a public lynching of their son posthumously. Just a theory of course -Pelican Briefer-
ReplyDeleteYes Pelican we really don't know do we? And not knowing anything they fill in the blanks to serve a political agenda
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I could not have said it better. I wonder if this should actually be a topic that should be considered news, and be covered as such.
ReplyDeleteThanks Victor. It shoould be news that they're using things like contempt hearings for politcally motivated attempts to undermine the duly elected President.
ReplyDeleteLike during the Clinton years they're trying to overturn election results.
