Obama's Change We Can Believe For Young Illegal Immigrants

It's a beautiful thing. The GOP is trying to spin this as encouraging illegal aliens, etc, and of course just politically motivated. Whatever, it's just noise. Really these young kids with some hope now don't care about political motives anyway.

"President Barack Obama says his plan to stop deporting younger illegal immigrants who came to the United States as children will make the system "more fair, more efficient and more just."
The president says it "makes no sense to expel talented young people" who are essentially Americans. He says he was taking the action in the absence of action by Congress "to fix our broken system."

"Obama's election-year initiative should help him among Hispanic voters. It will begin granting young immigrants work permits, affecting as many as 800,000 young people who have lived in fear of deportation."

Of course there's also Republican carping about "this is Congress's job." Yeah, well you guys haven't been doing it. You wont do your job-you've abdicated don't try to pretend you've been usurped.

You make it sound like Obama just invented the executive order. It's been around for two centuries, and George W. Bush turned it into an art form with an unprecedented number of EOs.

For me the sweetest part was that dimwitted Right wing reporter interrupting the President's announcement-was he raised in a barn? Or is he another bigot who thinks it's ok to interrupt the President in the middle of a speech is he's black?

"A man in the Rose Garden asked Obama while he was speaking, "Why do you favor foreigners over American workers?" Obama responded that "this is the right thing to do."

Of course the reality is that's a red herring. It's not a question of favoring anyone much as this sorry demagogue tried to paint it. Let me guess this is the new GOP strategy to fight Romney's huge deficit among Latinos-appeal to jingoism?

What they can't stand is that this is great politics for the President. They're attempts to quibble around the edges gets weaker and weaker. They thing they can marshall every bigot in the country to make up for all the Latinos swamping to the President they can try. But alas they are bad in math.
