For the most part Bernie doesn't admit to mistakes. He doesn't self-correct-just check his position on guns. Some argue his lack of 'evolution' is a selling point. I'm far less sure about that.
Maybe if you're perfect, never apologizing is a virtue. This is another reason I don't think he's qualified to be POTUS.
No doubt, part of what's going on is that the idea that he's not qualified has hit a nerve; mostly because, he''s not qualified.
For this reason he lashed out and said 'I know you are but what am I?' Jamil Smith was not so impressed with this.
Sanders calling Clinton "unqualified" to be president is very "I'm rubber and you're glue." Honestly, I thought he was better than that."

That was supposed to be his appeal. Again, according to Josh Marshall's theory, it is actually Jeff Weaver who has led Bernie down this rabbit hole.

The more you think about it, the more you can think of many catty comments that Weaver has made about Hillary over the many months of the campaign.
Even his latest comments 'I went to law school just like the Secretary did' sounds kind of peevish. As if her accomplishments as a woman grate on him.
In any case, many women didn't like what they are hearing from Bernie now:

On the level of simply who is most qualified, clearly she is the winner hands down. As President Obama's Administration noted yesterday, she is probably the most qualified none VP candidate in a long time. Of course, this is what stands out in this primary where most are running on 'being unqualified'-ie, an outsider.
Bernie on Howie Rose, again doubling down.
"Bernie Sanders is refusing to back down from his claim that Hillary Clinton is not "qualified" to be president, though he told CBS host Charlie Rose on Thursday that he only attacked her because she attacked him first."
“Do you believe Secretary Clinton is unqualified to be president?” Rose asked the Vermont senator on CBS Evening News on Thursday.
“Well, does Secretary Clinton believe that I am unqualified to be president?” Sanders shot back.
"Rose pressed further, asking why Sanders would level such a charge against someone with "a first-class resume" and "one of the most qualified people to run."
“She has years of experience. She is extremely intelligent,” Sanders allowed.
“So why can't you say?” an exasperated Rose asked again.
“Because she is, you know, I have some experience, too,” Sanders said, launching into a recitation of his own years of public service.

To say she is unqualified was over a line. Weaver says she was inferring Bernie isn't qualified. But in politics there is a difference between implying and saying.
Bernie now gave the GOP a general election attack line. Again, showing he's not a Democrat as he cares only about his own nomination.

In any case, many women didn't like what they are hearing from Bernie now:
"Questioning Hillary Clinton’s Qualifications Doesn’t Sit Well With Women Backing Her"
"Many of these women have been told their whole lives that they’re not as qualified as men."
"When talking to women rooting for Hillary Clinton, one reason comes up over and over again about why they stick by her: She is, simply, the most qualified person to be president."
“She’s the most highly qualified candidate of the Republicans and the Democrats. She has the experience,” New Hampshire state Rep. Mary Heath (D) said during a canvassing event in Manchester in January.
“She’s the most qualified, the smartest person. Her grasp of the issues is just amazing,” agreed Kathy Sullivan, a former chairwoman of the state Democratic Party.
Responses like those are why Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-Vt.) recent comment that Clinton isn’t qualified to be president have caused such a backlash with her supporters.
