On Tax Returns, Bernie Throws His Wife Under the Bus

Bernie has spent a lot of time trying to suggest somehow Hillary isn't trustworthy. What was in those speeches? It's a fishing expedition as there''s nothing that will mollify him.

What does he hope to see in her speeches? Her telling Goldman Sachs executives how to deregulate Wall St. again? Giving paid speeches is not unusual for leading public figures. What do they buy? A lot of time just to be able to say they heard someone of great note speak.

For instance, everyone from Gloria Steinem to Al Sharpton has given paid speeches. Yet only Hillary is having this demand.

Bernie, however, lives in a glass house. While he is demanding Hillary does something no one else ever has to do, he won't reease information that is pretty routine. He is refusing to release his tax returns.

Hillary, the alleged corporate shill who can't be trusted, has released eight years worth. Bernie won't agree to this standard. It's bringing back memories of Mitt Romney.

"Sanders will not commit to matching Clinton posting 8 yrs of tax returns on website before NY. Sanders says his wife prepares their taxes."

His wife prepares their taxes? Why does that prevent him from releasing them?

First Bernie kicked her off stage and now he's passing the buck to her on the taxes?

"Sen. Bernie Sanders on Sunday dismissed criticism that he hasn't released his full tax returns, even though Democratic rival Hillary Clinton has released eight years worth."

"Pushed by Jake Tapper on CNN's "State of the Union" over why he only released a 2014 summary of his returns, the Vermont senator said he'd release as much as he can, but said the process may take some time."

"You know who does our tax returns? My wife does our tax returns. We have been a little bit busy lately," Sanders said. Tapper told Sanders he was "kind of surprised" the Vermont senator hadn't "gone further on transparency."

"Sanders said he would work to make as much of his personal tax information public as soon as possible, but said expectations should be tempered for what will be revealed."

"There ain't going to be very much exciting in that. I get a salary from the United States Senate," Sanders said.

"Our financial situation, to the best of my knowledge, has not changed very much, but we will get out all of that information as soon as we can," he promised.

I get they've been busy with their dedicated smear on Hillary's character. But surely they aren't any more busy than she is and she released them.
This summary stuff, makes us think of Mitt Romney. I wouldn't guess that Bernie has any Cayman Island accounts. But then-what is the holdup?

In other news, Bernie wants a NY debate before the April 19 election but keeps changing when he is willing to debate.

Bad news Bern: we NYers have seen you in action enough already. There is no groundswell for another debate where you can falsely claim you don't have a super PAC and put out the usual innuendo about paid speeches.

This seems like a fair deal. We have a NY debate if Bernie first releases his last eight years of taxes. No Mitt Romney style summaries.

I can't imagine what he finds embarrassing in his taxes but the more he stalls, the more the imagination roams.

Where is Harry Reid when you need him?
