While every headline of any negative implication for Obama's campaign is taken and run with in some places-like Firedoglake-the just released numbers for the 3rd quarter this year are more good news for his campaign.

Obama for America raised $42.8 million in the quarter while the DNC raised $23.7 million. This beat their goal of 55 million. Most importantly, of the 606,000 who donated to Obama in the 3rd quarter 257,000 were first time donors. On the year the campaign has received donations from 1 million Americans this year.
As we know the naysayers will try to say it's just the rich that support his campaign. But of course of those 1 million individual donors most of them were not millionaires.
"Many of those are small donors, giving $250 or less, according to numbers provided by the Obama Campaign. Of the 766,000 donations received in July, August and September combined, 98 percent were $250 or less, officials said. The average donation was $56."
"Obama’s $42.8 million puts him well ahead of some of his Republican rivals, who are forced to compete for cash amongst a field of GOP donors with divided loyalties. Texas Gov. Rick Perry reported raising $17 million in the third quarter, while Rep. Ron Paul raised $8 million. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney has not yet released his total."

Contrary to what some liberal Obama bashers try to tell us he has deep support among many Americans including many of the Occupy Wall St protesters. With the Republicans apparently competing with each other for who can say the most insulting and demeaning thing about them it is pretty clear who supports the interests of most Americans and who is opposed. A hint Firedoglake: it's not Ron Paul or Buddy Roemer.
