I was asked this by a friend on Twitter. Actually she said I need to go after Trump more.
Actually right now it's not that I don't go after Trump much, it's that I don't do so at all.
I am not in any way shape for form part of any #NeverTrump movement. Liberals should not fall for that as Brian Beutler says.

"Donald Trump’s Nomination Will Have Real, Lasting Upsides."
"And the only thing that can stop it now is well-intentioned, but deeply misguided, #NeverTrump liberals."
"The downside risks of a Trump nomination are undeniable. But they are far smaller than the salubrious effect his primary victory would have on the country if it forced upon Republicans the kind of reckoning the 2008 and 2012 elections didn’t. If the politics of resentment were no longer readily available to them—lost to disgruntled Trump voters, or rendered toxic by the fact that they gave rise to Trump in the first place—Republicans might no longer interpret governing with Democrats as surrender."
"It’s impossible to say what will become of the Republican Party if Trump rips it asunder. But Trump’s Super Tuesday romp suggests very strongly that’s where we’re headed. And yet because the thought of a Trump presidency is so alarming to both conservatives and liberals, we have also seen growing calls for liberals to intervene and help Republicans deny Trump the nomination."

I've been preaching these benefits since last July. I spent about two weeks shocked by Trump before it dawned on me: Donald Trump is going to be the best thing that ever happened to the Democrat party.
I want him to be the nominee. Marco Rubio was a much bigger threat to Democrats. His baloney might have conceivably snookered the electorate into basically the third George W. Bus term but much harsher on abortion.
So I don't attack Trump now as this only would help the GOP avoid him as the nominee. It looks like the endgame is coming now. Rubio is just about done.

I will start going after Trump the day he is the nominee and not before. Before that it would be wasted energy.
This has been the clever position of the Clintons as well: when the media tried to get them to answer Trump's attack on Bill's past they just said it's up to the GOP to choose their own nominee.
That was great as it was interpreted as them being scared of Trump-which convinced the base that he really can beat Hillary easily whatever reality tells us.
What will be interesting is how the media acts once he is the nominee. Will they start playing the false equivalence game once Trump is no longer a thorn in the GOP's side but the GOP nominee?
We already remember when they called her a liar for her saying that he increased ISIS recruitment with his crazy comments. They had warned about this for two weeks but after she said it they started quibbling.
Did you see Obama yesterday? Don't blame me for Trump!... Lol
ReplyDeleteObama showed in 2012 it's possible to take down Trump at the Correspondence Dinner.
ReplyDeleteIn the general maybe he'll mess with him again as he campaigns for Hillary.
