Jay Carney Divulges the World's Worst Kept Secret

Obama's former Press Secretary tells us what we all already knew, though POTUS hasn't wanted to be explicit about it. Yes, Obama is #WithHer as they say on Twitter.

"Former White House press secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday that President Barack Obama wants Hillary Clinton to be the Democratic presidential nominee."

"I think the President has signaled, while still remaining neutral, that he supports Secretary Clinton's candidacy and would prefer to see her as the nominee," Carney said in an interview with CNN. "He won't officially embrace her unless and until it's clear she is going to be the nominee." Carney left his job at the White House in 2014 and briefly became a commentator for CNN. He now serves as a senior executive for Amazon."

"He said Wednesday that Obama was "maintaining tradition" of not endorsing a candidate until the primary process had ended."

"But I don't think there is any doubt that he wants Hillary to win the nomination and believes she would be the best candidate in the fall and the most effective as President in carrying forward what he has achieved," Carney said.

I have to say that as much as I've loved President Obama, I never loved him more than when he spoke up for Hillary as he did a few weeks ago.

And despite what Susan Sarandon says about 'not voting with your vagina', Obama himself can admit that, yes, she was covered in a very sexist way by the press that he, even as a black man, was not.

As Greg Sargent notes, Hillary did very well with voters who want to continue and build on Obama's policies. There were less of such voters in NH than Iowa, but should be many more in the South, etc.

P.S. Regarding Al Sharpton's meeting with Bernie today, don't read too much into it. He didn't endorse him and will be meeting with Hillary next week.

According to a source close to the Reverend's thinking a big concern of his is how Bernie actually gets all those proposals of his executed. Meanwhile HRC picked up some big SC endorsements of major black figures and politicians.

This is Hillary's message for better or worse. She is the candidate who has the ability to build coalitions and use smart executive power to get things done in a time when at least in 2017, she will face continued GOP obstruction. Just see what they have just done to Obama's latest budget.

It seems to me that Bernie talks about a world progressives may which we had, but she talks about the world we live in. This is not killing hope as some accuse her.
But its useless to come in with disdain for the system if you lack the knowledge and ability to navigate it in the correct way to actually achieve progressive aims. Even changing the system in reality requires knowledge and an ability to navigate it.

Even Obama now agrees with some of HRC's criticism of 2008. He came to realize that simply having contempt for Washington isn't enough to change it. Why else would he support her so strongly now?
